Advising Council (UWAC)

“A critical piece of UW’s advising model is ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.  The UW Advising Council (UWAC).  The Council is charged with:

  • Reviewing the new College Advising Plans, and working with colleges on implementation of their plans
  • Assuring accountability and using evidence based processes to continuously improve the advising system by responding to emerging needs of students and colleges
  • Setting and assessing campus-wide goals for undergraduate advising, processes, outcomes, and technology,
  • Embracing and championing the vision of the new advising model with a strong commitment to the success of undergraduate advising and our undergraduate students,

The UWAC has one representative from each college/school and from ACES, one person to represent Distance Education and Casper, one student chosen by ASUW, and two ex-officio members from the supplemental advising community (with rotated voting rights between them).

  • Meeting frequency - two times per semester, one time in the summer after June orientation. As needed, additional meetings may be called.”
