Cultural & Language Events

On a regular basis, the Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies program has events across Wyoming involving high school students in order to promote cultural or linguistic knowledge. We are happy to work with community organizations as well and can tailor our instruction depending on your organization's needs. 

Cultural Presentations

March 2022: Representatives from our Arabic & Middle Eastern Studies program visited Central High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This event was done in collaboration with Central High School’s International Club. Students were taught and participated in a hands-on experience making Arabic tea and an authentic couscous recipe. An informative and interactive presentation on Moroccan culture and cuisine was also given to the students by our UW Fullbright Scholar from Morrocco, Ayoub Nacahat.

Language Exposure 

April 2022: The University of Wyoming's Arabic & Middle Eastern Studies program was honored to be invited by Laramie High School’s chapter of the Spanish Honor Society to participate in Laramie High School’s International Night. UW and Laramie HS students came together to represent elements of culture in beautiful and expressive ways. The University of Wyoming proffered a decorative booth, highlighting various aspects of North African culture and promoting the Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies program to prospective students. At the event, one of our members also provided a presentation reciting the first verse of the Quran sung in Arabic.
