UW Art Museum's virtual "Dispatches from Exile" exhibit explores what life is like in 2020

Wyoming Tribune Eagle, November 15, 2020 ‖ Sedgeley approached the museum and asked if it would be interested in sponsoring and facilitating this kind of show. Although he creates in his free time, Sedgeley didn’t have any experience in art exhibit curation, and he wanted to build a bridge between the university’s art and law departments.

Assistant Curator Michelle Sunset was tasked with the organization of the exhibit, and she was immediately onboard.


National Native American Heritage Month Virtual Events Planned at UW

UW Trio Contribute Book Chapter in ‘Critical Race Theory in the Academy’ Publication

UW News, November 2, 2020 ‖ University of Wyoming College of Law Professor Darrell Jackson, UW Art Museum Director Nicole Crawford and former UW law student Toni Hartzel have co-written a book chapter that focuses on race theory.

“Critical Race Theory in the Academy” explores the effects of race and culture on the expanse of the American social fabric. Other educators and scholars also contributed to the book. Each challenges the narrative in education and in society through the application of critical race theory with a goal of alleviating institutionalized racism.

Art Museum Re-open to Public

Laramie Boomerang, September 25, 2020 ‖ The UW Art Museum is set to re-open to the public Tuesday. The museum will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday. Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-noon are reserved for high-risk visitors. Admission is free.


Crawford appointed permanent Director of UW Art Museum

Daily Rocket Miner, September 23, 2020 ‖ Nicole Crawford has been appointed director of the University of Wyoming Art Museum, following approval by the UW Board of Trustees during its meeting on Sept. 17. Crawford, the longtime curator of collections, had been interim director since February.

Wyoming arts groups plan hybrids of in-person and virtual programming

Casper Star-Tribune, July 18, 2020 ‖ Visual arts venues around Wyoming have brought their programs online during the pandemic, including the University of Wyoming Art Museum.

The museum, closed since March, has offered a host of events online, including talks with curators, livestreamed yoga sessions and a new virtual summer camp for kids through Zoom.

Artist Lindsay Linton Buk brings Wyoming women's stories into the light

Casper Star Tribune, May 2, 2020 ‖ Lindsay’s multimedia exhibit, “Women in Wyoming: Portraits and Interviews of Women Who Shape the West,” is on view at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody until Aug. 2. The exhibit will then travel to the University of Wyoming Art Museum and will open on Sept. 12.
