Career Events Connect Students with Industry

Hundreds of University of Wyoming students took steps to secure their future at two events hosted on campus this week.
The UW Advising • Career • Exploratory Studies (ACES) Center hosted two job fairs with the goal of connecting UW students with employers for internships and full-time jobs.
On Tuesday, the Engineering and Technology Job Fair had 323 students in attendance to visit with 66 companies, while Wednesday’s BIG Job Fair had 240 students and 73 companies. Organizations at both events came from Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota and Texas.
After the events concluded, several company representatives chose to spend an additional day at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center to conduct job interviews with candidates, while other companies expressed interest in conducting phone interviews within the coming weeks.
Associate Director of Career Services Ann Jones says although it’s too early to determine the number of job offers that resulted from the events, historical data indicates that job fairs provide an avenue for UW students and recent alumni to gain face-to-face employer interactions, and engage in professional conversations which lead to career-related employment opportunities.
