Nutrition in the schools...
At Lingle-Fort Laramie Elementary School
Denise just finished up with some Healthy Happy Kindergartners who were choosing to eat more fruits and vegetables. Marty Moose found that many of the 2nd graders loved eating more whole grains to increase their energy levels as well as to help with their digestive health. 4th graders discovered, through their Munching through Wyoming History classes, that some of the foods that many of the groups of people traveling through Wyoming in the 1800’s ate was tasty, but that most the of the groups, Native Americans, Mountain Men, Pioneers, Railroad Workers and Cowboys didn’t have access to dairy, fruits or vegetables or even fresh, clean water.
At LaGrange Elementary
Beginning at the end of March, Kindergarten and 1st graders will be learning how to make healthier choices in the Happy Healthy Me classes, and 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders will be listening to Marty Moose and enjoying samples of healthier foods from all the food groups and taking those recipes home to share with their families.
