Feeding Wyoming's Youth
Danniel has partnered with the HRC (Human Resources Confederation) and the Food Bank in Lincoln County; delivering food to the hungry since December.
It all started last spring when a teacher’s husband questioned her school lunch bill. She had been purchasing lunches/sandwiches for students who do not get enough at lunch, haven’t had breakfast or need to take a lunch on a school/sports trip. She was not the only teacher doing this. Lincoln County recognized there was a problem and a need to help get food to these children.
In September, the HRC had moved forward with a program. After speaking with the schools, they found it best to provide a snack program for children, who’s only meal might be the school lunch. However, there were still students in more dire situations, needing food on the weekends; which are being looked at on an individual needs basis.
Many agencies in Lincoln County make up the HRC and together, with the generosity of the community, Cent$ible Nutrition and the Food Bank, they are delivering food to kids every week. The program is still fairly new, and so no impacts have been measured. They plan to continue growing this program and helping feed more of Wyoming’s youth.

"The food pantry is great! It lets me help students that do not get breakfast at home. It is also good for helping students that need a boost during classes. We have a real need for the food pantry."
