    Environmental Remediation - anaerobic and  anaerobic biodegradation of organic (e.g., petroleum, chlorinated solvents) and inorganic contaminants (e.g., heavy metals, acidity, sodicity) in soils, sediments and ground water; bioelectrochemical technologies and applications in remediation of soil and groundwater contamination; biological source treatment and prevention of acid mine/rock drainage

    Value-added Conversion of Wastes - biochemically enhanced methane production from coal, oil shale, and other carbonaceous deposits; microbially and bioelectrochemically catalyzed conversion of carbon dioxide to organic acids and methane; bioelectrochemical conversion of graphite to grephene oxides under ambient conditions
