Awards include an NEA Fellowship, a Christopher Isherwood Foundation Fellowship, a Pushcart Prize, inclusion in Best American Short Stories, the High Plains Book Award for Fiction, the Devil's Kitchen Award in Prose, a Nelson Algren Award, a Hopwood Award from the University of Michigan, and the John P. Ellbogen Award for Meritorious Classroom Teaching.

 

Interests & Hobbies:

Fishing, tennis, hiking and camping, snowshoeing, and folklore.
