New Membership Agreements – As your chapters add new members, please remember to have them complete the FSL Membership Agreement on UW Connect under the FSL page Forms (student must be signed in) within 48 hours of accepting a bid. Women who participate in NPC recruitment will be added automatically after bid day.
Recruitment Update – Recruitment is such an exciting time for our community! Our National Panhellenic Council (NPC) chapters have spent the weekend recruiting the best new members for their organizations. Please extend them congratulations on a great virtual recruitment! The IFC community is continuing to extend bids, and the associate chapters will be starting their recruitment periods this week. We hope to have an updated membership report soon! As we gain new members in the community, remember to extend a warm welcome to all and to live out your values.
Involvement Fest – The event will take place in a virtual world on Thursday, September 17 from 4-7pm. Chapters working a booth will be given access to enter and acclimate with the format and find your booth beginning at 3pm. Attendees will be able to join closer to 4pm. For more information on this event please email fsl@uwyo.edu.
National Hazing Prevention Week – Next week is National Hazing Prevention Week. We are excited to bring a speaker for our campus virtually September 24th 7:00 - 8:30pm. Lorin Phillips was a Sigma Sigma Sigma. She has been working for Tri Sigma for ten years and now serves as the assistant executive assistant. She is an educator looking to start critical conversations about hazing, alcohol abuse, confrontations and, above all, the importance of accountability of all members of fraternities, sororities, and other campus organizations.
IFC and CPH meetings – Delegate meetings continue this week.
Phase 2 (This week) – Student Org functions should continue to be held virtually. Hybrid (virtual and in-person component) may be possible ONLY if 100% of the in-person attendees are in the Phase 2 bridge testing group. More messaging will be distributed after pause lifts.
Phase 3 (Tentatively begins Sept. 28) – In-person functions resume with maximum capacity up to 50 people (if space permits). Social distancing and masks will be expected. Attendance will need to be tracked via UW Connect attendance tracker for contact tracing purposes. More details and guidelines will be released as we get closer to Phase 3.
Phase 4 (begins Nov. 23) – Move back to virtual functions only.
We are trying to stay on top of the changing times. If you have questions about future activities and planning something during phase 3, please email StudentOrgs@uwyo.edu and we will work with your organization on an individual basis.
No Off-Campus Exceptions – If you are gathering as a chapter, these expectations are applicable to BOTH on-campus and off-campus gatherings because you are gathering as your organization which is affiliated with the University (similar to if you were traveling for your chapter, you would be representing the University of Wyoming in that space at that time). Questions about the phased re-opening can be sent to fsl@uwyo.edu.
Reducing Spread – Masks, physical distancing, and handwashing/hand-sanitizing are the key to reducing the spread of this virus. Practicing these things now will increase the likelihood of in-person events actually taking place (including CPH bid day, philanthropy events, social events, etc). PLEASE do your part to wear your mask in ANY public setting, on or off-campus, wash your hands regularly, and maintain physical distance of 6ft or more between people you are not regularly with.
