Federal dollars were placed into a trust fund to provide former GEAR UP Wyoming students, served under the 2005-2011 grant, scholarships to attend the University of Wyoming or a Wyoming community college. The Federal Scholarship criteria include specific requirements and are awarded to students who have demonstrated regular participation in the high school GEAR UP program. Eligibility requirements will be verified by each applicant's host GEAR UP site.
Please follow the steps below to apply for the GEAR UP Wyoming Federal / UW GEAR UP Institutional Scholarships.
1. First and foremost, make sure your application for admission to the University of Wyoming or the Wyoming community college of your choice has been approved.

2. Next, fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1 for priority status. The FAFSA needs to be complete by April 1 to be eligible for the scholarship.
3. Next, fill out the GEAR UP Federal Scholarship / UW GEAR UP Institutional Scholarship Application.
4. Watch your email for messages concerning your aid and make sure you file the proper paperwork, when requested, before any deadlines pass.
5. Verify through your chosen institution that your scholarship has passes into your student account at the appropriate time.
The University of Wyoming (UW) sets aside $150,000 each year to aid former GEAR UP Wyoming students in their pursuit of a bachelor's degree at UW. The UW GEAR UP Institutional Scholarship criteria include specific requirements and are awarded to students who have demonstrated regular participation in the GEAR UP program. Eligibility requirements wil be verified by each applicant's host GEAR UP site.

The UW GEAR UP Institutional Scholarship application is due by June 1 for fall semester award or November 1 for spring semester. Students only need to apply to the scholarship once.
These scholarships are awarded to former GEAR UP Wyoming students who are attending Wyoming community colleges. Most community college partner institutions have funds they award specifically to former GEAR UP Wyoming students. Scholarship eligibility criteria are determined by the individual community college.

The Hathaway Scholarship program provides merit- and need-based awards to eligible students. GEAR UP works with students to prepare and encourage them to meet the criteria set by the Hathaway program.

GEAR UP Wyoming is a Referral Agency for the prestigious Daniels Scholarship. Daniels Scholarships are awarded in the spring to graduating high school seniors and are supplemental after other federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid and scholarships. Students may use their scholarship at any two- or four-year accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States with an intention to complete a bachelor's degree.
