Rachel Sailor

Rachel Sailor teaches nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first-century American and European art history courses, but her area of research is nineteenth-century photography of the American West. Before her position at the University of Wyoming she taught in Oregon, Iowa, and at the University of Texas at Tyler.  She has published a number of articles on western photography and the book Meaningful Places: Landscape Photographers in the Nineteenth-Century American West in 2014 with The University of New Mexico Press. She has just completed a book manuscript concerning early twentieth-century photographic pictorialism in the American West with the support of a residency at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and Research Center in 2015 and a Fulbright to Luxembourg in 2017. For more information and news about art history at UW follow @uwyoarthistory on Instagram.
