Ann Stebner Steele was born and raised in the high desert of Wyoming. She earned her B.A. in English with minors in Honors and Environmental Values. In May 2012, she completed her MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Idaho. She and her husband returned to Wyoming in order to live in the landscape that they love, surrounded by the family and friends they share it with. This landscape and these people inspire most of her writing. Her creative writing has been published in Orion, Souvenir Lit Journal, and the anthology Atlantic City,Wyoming: Voices from a Powerful Place. She has also been featured reading her work on Public Radio International’s Living on Earth program and has an essay forthcoming in Western Confluence Magazine.
Ann has worked in higher education at the University of Wyoming since 2012, focusing mainly on college preparation and readiness and student advising. She was the Student Programming Coordinator for GEAR UP Wyoming before moving to Advising, Career, and Exploratory Studies in 2014. In addition to advising students, she has been leading a team to develop a campus-wide advisor training program. In 2018, she moved to the Honors College to teach classes and coordinate advising.
