Family and Child Legal Advocacy Clinic

Student Clinic Director: Ashley Popek

Ashley Popek served as the Student Clinic Director of the Family and Child Legal Advocacy Clinic for the summer of 2020. Originally from Florida, Ashley took a risk to move to Manhattan, NY where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political sciences from Hunter College. After working briefly with Human Rights Watch, her passion to advocate for others was ignited. She relocated to Longmont, Colo. where she worked in an immigration law firm before decided to attend law school herself.

While at the University of Wyoming, Ashley has been an active student leader. She has served as the President of the Wyoming Society for International Law, the Pro Bono Coordinator of Equal Justice Wyoming, and worked in the clinic. Excited by the opportunity to serve as the student director for the summer, she hoped to lead the clinic student attorneys to success in their cases, and to be reliable counsel for the clinic’s clients.

She has also gained valuable work experience through an externship with the Albany County Public Defender's Office and an internship with the Justice and Mercy Legal Aid Center in Denver, Colo.

Following law school, Ashley hopes to continue working with children and families, and serve as an advocate for disenfranchised populations.
