Civil Legal Services Clinic

Student Clinic Director: Jennifer Dean

A native of Chesterland, Ohio, Jennifer Dean earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Kent State University. She chose to pursue a law degree at Wyoming to gain practical experience and broaden her exposure to whom she can serve with her legal education.

She has been active in several organizations including Phi Alpha Delta, and is the co-founder and co-president of the new student group OutLaw. She has been extremely active in the Civil Legal Services Clinic, and served as co-counsel on the historic, first-ever jury trial conducted by the legal clinics at the University of Wyoming in the spring of 2020.

Jennifer has been impacted by the clinics since the first day she set foot in it. She says, “My first year in the clinic was an experience that I will never take for granted. Through the opportunities to shape my practical legal skills, I learned that I have the integrity needed to advocate for my clients with everything I have. Growing so much personally led me to want to continue to push myself professionally. This year my goal is to take the fire I have to help my clients and craft it into the art that is lawyering.”

Following law school, Jennifer hopes to be a well-rounded attorney and have the ability to be a versatile, general practitioner in order to serve a wide base of clients’ needs, and has a particular soft spot for children’s advocacy.
