December 8, 2016 — As part of the clinic practicum, the Energy, Environment and Natural Resource (“EENR”) Law Clinic observed oral arguments before the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. Inside of a packed courthouse the EENR Clinic witnessed two separate oral arguments made by the State of Wyoming regarding wild horse management.
December 7, 2016 — The Civil Legal Services Clinic works on a variety of civil legal issues including housing, consumer rights, education, veterans’ service-connected disability benefits, and other public benefits laws. The Clinic represents low-income and often marginalized populations that could otherwise not afford legal representation.

December 6, 2016 — The externship program at the UW College of Law is a great way for students to gain real-world experience while also earning course credit towards their law degree. The College of Law benefits from a robust number of externship opportunities throughout Wyoming and the region, providing our students with the skills they need in order to be successful in their careers.

November 17, 2016 — On Wednesday, November 16, 2016 Sierra Collver argued a case before the Wyoming Supreme Court as part of the Prosecution Assistance Program. Sierra Collver represented the State of Wyoming against Edward Christopher Barrowes (No. S-16-0155).

October 31, 2016 — As Domestic Violence Awareness Month wraps up, we’d like to highlight College of Law faculty member Dona Playton, and all of the work that she has done for victims of domestic violence.
September 19, 2016 — It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Diane Courselle. Professor Courselle passed away on Sunday, September 11th, 2016 after a lengthy illness.

September 7, 2016 — Students in the International Human Rights Clinic gained another victory in Immigration Court for a detained client from Eritrea for the second week in a row.

August 10, 2016 — Timothy Kearley, Professor Emeritus of Law and former Law Library Director, has been awarded the 2016 Reynolds & Flores FCIL-SIS Publication Award by the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Foreign, Comparative, and International Law Special Interest Section (FCIL-SIS). The Award seeks to recognize publications that make significant contributions to the profession in the area of foreign and international law and legal history.

June 21, 2016 — Buoyed by the generous gift of two alumni, the University of Wyoming College of Law has created a new fund for the support of trial practice education, the Trial Practice Success Fund. Alums Nick Murdock (J.D. ’77) of Casper and Cody Balzer (J.D. ’95) of Loveland, Colorado, contributed $50,000 to launch the fund.

May 13, 2016 — The 2016 College of Law Graduation Ceremony will take place Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the Buchanan Center for Performing Arts Concert Hall beginning at 10:00 AM.

May 3, 2016 — In fall of 2015, Professor Michael Duff was nominated to become a fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers (CWCL). Professor Duff’s nomination was recently confirmed and he joined an elite group of workers’ compensation lawyers in the nation as a CWCL Fellow.

April 29, 2016 — Over the course of the last semester, the externship program at the University of Wyoming College of Law has seen a significant boom in participation from both students and outside agencies to provide hands-on experience for law students during their legal education.

April 26, 2016 — Several times a year, students from the clinical programs at the University of Wyoming College of Law make an appearance before the highest court in the state, the Wyoming Supreme Court.We’d like to take a moment and recognize those student for their outstanding, work, preparation, and representation in the courtroom.

April 13, 2016 — Professor Jason Robison will be one of the featured speakers at the upcoming Saturday U session in Rock Springs on April 23rd. This will be one of the concluding presentations of the Saturday U Program for the spring term.

April 6, 2016 — After eighteen years of Service to the College of Law, William T. Schwartz Professor of Law Jerry Parkinson has announced his retirement. Parkinson will finish the remainder of the spring semester before bidding his final farewell to Wyoming.

April 5, 2016 — The University of Wyoming College of Law will hold the second annual Spence Law Firm Historical Trial Production on Monday, April 11th, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the College of Law Large Moot Court Room.

March 10, 2016 — The University of Wyoming College of Law will be hosting the annual Honor’s Banquet on Friday, April 1st, 2016 at the Marian Rochelle Gateway Center in Laramie.

February 16, 2016 — The University of Wyoming College of Law would like to congratulate recent graduate MonicaMonica Houston (J.D. ’15) on her recent accomplishment of earning second place in the Washington College of Law (WCL) First Annual National Health Law Writing Competition.

February 15, 2016 — University of Wyoming College of Law student Debra Bulluck, of Casper, will discuss landmark cases as part of Black History Month at UW.

February 11, 2016 — Professor Suzie Pritchett is on a continuing mission to contribute to the internationalization and the promotion of global awareness at the University of Wyoming and within the state of Wyoming.

February 4, 2016 — For the second year in a row, the University of Wyoming College of Law has been named as one of the 56 law schools on the practical training honor roll by PreLaw Magazine and the National Jurist for 2016.

January 21, 2016 — A recent article in Inside Higher Ed revealed that Wyoming is the best state in the nation in terms of state funding for higher education. In a recent report done by Young Invincibles, each state received a report card grading its support for public higher education. Wyoming was the only state to receive an ‘A’ grade.
