December 2, 2019 — Each year the College of Law Defender Aid Clinic endeavors to send students from the Clinic to the annual Innocence Network Conference. The Clinic has a goal of raising $1,200 in order to send the students to the Conference in March, and is asking for gifts as little as $20 to help crowd source the needed funds. In this season of giving, we hope that you’ll consider supporting the Defender Aid Clinic in its endeavor to broaden the learning experience of the students within the Clinic.

November 25, 2019 — Three University of Wyoming faculty members were selected as recipients of the 2019 Faculty Engagement Fellowship awards, representing a wide range of disciplines. Professor Tawnya Plumb was the recipient of the OEO-Wyoming Institute for Humanities Research (WIHR) Faculty Engagement Fellowship.

September 16, 2019 — The University of Wyoming College of Law was recently recognized by PreLaw Magazine and the National Jurist as a Best Law School for Family Law. This accolade comes after the recent, permanent hire of Dona Playton as an Associate Professor of Law and the Faculty Director of the Family & Child Legal Advocacy Clinic.

July 31, 2019 — The University of Wyoming College of Law is pleased to announce George Mocsary as the newest member to the faculty.

July 25, 2019 — Wyoming’s very own Professor McLane gained some national notoriety among her peers in the criminal law profession this week. Her article “Confronting the Twenty-First-Century Marian Examination,” which was recently published in the Albany Law Review (82 Alb. L. Rev. 949), was one of the “top ten most downloaded” list on SSRN.

July 24, 2019 — A recent publication by Professor Tara Righetti was cited by the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia in two different cases that appeared before the court in early June. The article referenced, “Contracting for Sustainable Surface Management”, was published in the Arkansas Law Review in December of 2018, and examines the surface damage agreement as an instrument of private governance.

July 18, 2019 — Established in 2015 by University of Wyoming alums and benefactors practicing in the areas of oil and gas and energy law, the Salt Creek Energy Excellence Scholarship is awarded to students demonstrating academic achievement and a commitment to the study and practice of energy law.

June 27, 2019 — One of the most prestigious options for new lawyers embarking on their legal careers is to clerk. When it comes to looking for post-graduate employment, the College of Law is in a unique position to help a high proportion of our students into those coveted position. Due in large part to the incredible relationships with our alumni and members of the judiciary, Wyoming graduates have proven their worth repeatedly in those positions.

June 11, 2019 — The College of Law is pleased to feature Merideth Heneage, of Lexington, S. C. as the 2019-2020 Brimmer Scholar.

May 21, 2019 — The University of Wyoming College of Law is no stranger to recognition. With small class sizes, a low faculty to student ratio, and strong clinical programs all at a reasonable tuition, it is no wonder that others have taken notice. The College of Law has been named among the best in various categories in many different outlets highlighting these strengths.

May 17, 2019 — A new batch of University of Wyoming law graduates will celebrate their accomplishments this Saturday, May 18, 2019. The College of Law Commencement Ceremony will take place in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts beginning at 10:00 AM.

April 23, 2019 — On April 18, 2019, Professor Jason Robison was honored with the Chief Washakie Foundation Distinguished Leadership Award.

April 11, 2019 — The Defender Aid Clinic has been continually picking up steam and spending a lot of time in the courtroom. Students have gained valuable experience both within the confines of the clinic walls as well as in front of the judiciary. Here is just a glimpse of the Defender Aid Clinic highlight reel.

April 3, 2019 — Once again the University of Wyoming College of Law will be hosting the annual Spence Law Firm Historic Trial. This marks the fifth year for the event, which will take place on Monday, April 15th, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the College of Law Large Moot Court Room, classroom 178.

March 25, 2019 — The College of Law will host the Annual 2019 Honors Banquet on April 5th, at the UW Conference Center at the Hilton Garden Inn. The evening will commence at 6:00 PM with a reception and cocktail hour, followed by the main program and dinner 7:00 PM.

March 11, 2019 — Law student Brooke Hamilton took a brief interlude from her legal education to travel to Baghdad, Iraq, where she served as the Executive Director for the Legal Clinic Network.

February 21, 2019 — It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beloved friend and Professor, John M. Burman.

February 15, 2019 — On Friday, February 8, 2018, the Energy, Environmental, and Natural Resources Clinic visited the legislature in Cheyenne.

February 13, 2019 — Third-year law student Jenna Niehl argued before the Wyoming Supreme Court on January 16th, 2019. The oral argument was part of her assignment in the Prosecution Assistance Clinic.

February 8, 2019 — Professor Tara Righetti is heavily involved in securing grants for interdisciplinary research activities at the University of Wyoming. She is the go-to authority on energy law for the University and is sought out for her expertise, her enthusiasm, and her willingness to help advance the mission of important research grants.
