The University of Wyoming Full-Time MBA program offers two (2) energy management alternatives for students interested in enhancing their MBA. These programs have been designed collaboratively between the MBA faculty and energy industry leaders.
"Energy" in the context of the energy management programs refers to traditional hydrocarbon energy businesses (e.g., coal, oil, natural gas), the power generation industry, and alternative energy (e.g., renewable, nuclear, and cogeneration). The programs address extraction & production, processing & conversion, and marketing & delivery in each segment. This is the program to be in if you enjoy solving unstructured energy business problems!
Energy Management MBA students will complete the MBA core curriculum before proceeding with courses specific to energy management. Students should declare their intent to complete an energy management concentration or emphasis no later than the spring semester of their core curriculum.
Students will be well versed in macro energy economics and terminology. They will gain a solid contextual understanding of energy businesses across industry segments, including:
Students spend their first year (Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters) in the MBA program taking core courses and completing a summer experiential project in the energy field (30 credits). The second year is spent taking eight energy management courses (24 credits) during the Fall and Spring semesters. The MBA in Energy Management program has its own unique Capstone course.
Students will be well versed in macro energy economics and terminology. They will have a solid contextual understanding of energy businesses across industry segments, including energy supply chain management, energy finance (project evaluation), and energy economics. Students spend their first year (Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters) in the MBA program taking core courses and completing a summer experiential project in the energy field (30 credits). During the final semester, students will take the MBA Capstone course (3 credits) and three energy management electives (9 credits).
Energy Management MBA students must meet the same admission requirements as the Full-time MBA students. To apply for the Energy Management program, complete the online MBA application.
