Dalton Kehoe and Stewart Ross will speak and lead workshops during the Ellbogen Center
for Teaching and Learning's 2010 Spring Colloquium May 17-19.
"Designs for Learning" is the theme for the Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning's 2010 Spring Colloquium May 17-19. Registration is free, and early registration is encouraged by May 7.
Ellbogen Center Director Jane Nelson says, "We sponsor this popular spring colloquium as a way for faculty and graduate students to celebrate their accomplishments in the classroom, to identify opportunities for changes in their teaching and to learn about innovative ways to effectively engage students."
Nationally recognized leaders in teaching and learning will share information through talks, workshops and discussions with participants.
Stewart Ross, the founding director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Minnesota State-Mankato, will discuss "The Joy and Responsibility of Teaching Well," Monday, May 17, and lead a workshop on classroom assessment techniques Tuesday, May 18. Both sessions are from 9:30-11 a.m. in Room 506 of Coe Library.
Dalton Kehoe, a senior scholar in the Communication Studies Department at York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, was one of the first academics to use Mediasite live streaming technology in his classes. He will discuss "Blended Technologies for Blended Learning" Tuesday, May 18, from 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. in Room 506 of Coe Library, with lunch provided. Kehoe will also conduct workshops on video streaming technology and lecture capture with faculty groups on campus.
