Gillis Accepts Endowed Chair at UW

Victoria Ridgeway Gillis, former professor of reading education at Clemson University, will join the University of Wyoming College of Education as the second Wyoming Excellence Endowed Chair of Literacy Education this fall.

She will join fellow Literacy Education Endowed Chair George Kamberelis. 

Gillis has a distinguished record of scholarship in reading and adolescent literacy. She also brings a strong background in classroom teaching at both secondary and university levels. Gillis presents an extensive performance in professional development for in-service teachers.

She obtained a B.S. in biology from North Georgia College, an M.A.T. in secondary science from Emory University and a Ph.D. in reading education from the University of Georgia.
