UW Student Awarded Platte Valley Bank Scholarship

June 20, 2011

The University of Wyoming Alumni Association has awarded the Platte Valley Bank Scholarship for the 2011-2012 academic year to Duell Petsch of Meriden.

The $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding UW junior or senior. The recipient must maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade-point average while taking a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester on the Laramie campus.

Petsch is a junior majoring in energy resource science. Following graduating from UW, he hopes to pursue a graduate degree and research land reclamation and wind energy refinement. He also wants to continue to live and work in Wyoming.

"I will be a good steward of this award," Petsch says. "I will diligently continue to honor my home state and university with a strong work ethic as a student of energy at the University of Wyoming."

The UW Alumni Association provides 34 scholarships each year to current and future UW students.

The Platte Valley Bank Scholarship is sponsored by the Platte Valley Bank in Wheatland. Keith Geis, president of the bank, is a UW alumni and former Alumni Association president.
