Christina Kuzmych is the new general manager of Wyoming Public Media.
She brings more than 20 years of administrative and managerial experience from WFIU-FM, the public radio, television and media service of Indiana University in Bloomington.
At WFIU-FM Kuzmych served as station manager since 1993, overseeing expansion initiatives, conversion to HD technology and the development of a new line of online-only programs. She is considered a pioneer in developing radio and online content distributed throughout digital on-demand platforms.
"Kuzmych's public media leadership and commitment to journalism and cultural programming make her an excellent choice to continue advancing Wyoming Public Radio, Classical Wyoming and Jazz Wyoming networks and online presence," says Maggi Murdock, dean of the University of Wyoming Outreach School.
"It's a pleasure to join a broadcast organization that is the recipient of multiple Edward R. Murrow Awards for outstanding news," said Kuzmych, when noting the many reasons for coming to Wyoming. "And to learn that WPM receives public support equivalent to UW athletics is an outstanding measure of its importance in the state."
Kuzmych replaces former general manager, Jon Schwartz, as WPM's liaison with National Public Radio, Public Radio International, and American Public Media. She currently serves as president of Public Radio in Mid America.
Wyoming Public Media is a division of the Outreach School and a service of the University of Wyoming. With 26 transmitters and translators throughout the state, Wyoming Public Radio reaches nearly every community in Wyoming.
