This year’s Wyoming-Utah Ag Days, featuring workshops to help cattle producers, sheep producers, landowners and even alternative crop producers, are scheduled Monday-Tuesday, Jan. 27-28, in Evanston. Sessions both days at the community’s Roundhouse are from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and include two track options.

“We have really tried to pack a lot of great information into this year’s ag days, including many timely topics,” says Bridger Feuz, University of Wyoming Extension livestock marketing specialist and area educator based in Uinta County.

Day one topics target traditional livestock agriculture, and day two features one track focused on technology for ag producers, Feuz says.

Monday sessions include culling livestock; understanding the wild horse issue; weed management 101; side-by-side use in ag; feed and mineral; what influences bull cost and what can you spend on a bull; if cows could talk: what your cows can tell you about your range; and ranch horse care.

Monday’s keynote speaker, Mary Budd Flitner, will discuss her book, titled “My Ranch, Too: A Wyoming Memoir.” Flitner’s book expresses a straightforward attitude about living on a ranch in Wyoming.

Tuesday sessions include topics in hemp; forms of business ownership; strategic mineral supplementation for sheep; small flock production; feed value calculator; apps for ranching; telling your social media story; and drone use in agriculture.

Feuz, Tuesday’s keynote speaker, will discuss the livestock market outlook.

Participants can attend any or all sessions but must RSVP to be included in the lunch sessions. To reserve a meal during the lunch session, call (307) 783-0570 by 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24.
