Country singer-songwriter Travis Denning will perform a free concert Friday, Sept. 15, to wrap up the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede at the University of Wyoming.

The concert will take place in the UW Indoor Practice Facility. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the concert will begin at 8 p.m. The event is open to UW students, faculty and staff as well as attendees and sponsors of this week’s stampede.

Now in its sixth year, the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede is presented by UW’s Center for Blockchain and Digital Innovation (CBDI). The title sponsor is Input Output Global. The Associated Students of UW is a concert sponsor.

“Travis Denning is a rising country music star,” says Steve Lupien, CBDI director. “This concert is a celebration for the University of Wyoming community and the conclusion of the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede.”

A native of Warner Robins, Ga., Denning was 7 years old when he heard AC/DC for the first time. From then on, he was hooked and listened to all types of music from heavy metal, pop, rock and country. He started playing local bars at 16 and built a solid following from his distinctive songs and raucous guitar licks.

He moved to Nashville in 2014 and, within a year, signed a publishing deal with Jeremy Stover’s RED Creative Group. After securing outside cuts by Jason Aldean, Justin Moore and Chase Rice, he caught the attention of Universal Music Group, where he eventually signed a record deal in 2017.

Denning’s debut single, “David Ashley Parker From Powder Springs,” reached the Top 40. Other songs include “Things I’m Going Through,” “Strawberry Wine and a Cheap Six Pack,” “After a Few” and “Second Best Thing.”

Denning’s songwriting extends to other artists -- he has co-written for Michael Ray, Rice, Aldean and Moore. Denning has previously headlined his own “Heartbeat of a Small Town Tour” and toured with Brothers Osborne, Cole Swindell, Dustin Lynch, Alan Jackson, Riley Green, Dierks Bentley and Jake Owen.

With almost 720 million streams worldwide, Denning is making his mark within the industry, being previously selected as one of Country Radio Seminar New Faces, an Opry NextStage recipient and a Country Music Association KixStart Artist.
