Collegiate Chorale on Stage at UW Nov. 4

The University of Wyoming Collegiate Chorale will present “A Whole New World: Music From The Americas” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

Conducted by Brian Murray, UW Department of Music assistant professor, the concert explores the vast diversity of captivating repertoire from Canada to Chile in an array of lush harmonies and energetic rhythms that encapsulate choral music from the Americas.

The program features “Apamuy Shungo” by Gerardo Guevara; “Missa Pastoril Gloria” by Jose Mauricio Nunes Garci; “The Word Was God” by Rosephanye Powell; “Duerme Negrito” by Atahualpa Yupanqui; “Le Pont Mirabeau” by Lionel Daunais; “Christus Factus Est” by Manuel de Sumaya; “Tico-Tico no Fubá” by Zequinha de Abreu; "Warm as the Autumn Light" by Douglas Moore; “Fire” by Katerina Gimon; “By Night” by Elaine Hagenberg; “Zion’s Walls” by Aaron Copland; and “I Hear America Singing” by André Thomas.

Featured performers include Erik Erlandson, baritone; Carlos Flores, percussion; Stephanie Flores Guerrero, cello; Amanda Silva, mezzo-soprano; and Giovanna Volpi Schmeiske, violin. Emily Peterson also serves as graduate conductor on several pieces.

UW’s Collegiate Chorale recently performed “A Whole New World: Music from the Americas” at Walk Festival Hall in Teton Village.
