PokeBot V5.01 Technology Event Scheduled Oct. 18 at UW

PokeBot V5.01, a “Pokes doing strange things with technology” event, is scheduled from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the University of Wyoming.

PokeBot V5.01 will be in the Information Technology Center atrium -- home of the UW Innovation Network (UWIN) Make-IT makerspace. The free public event is a hacker, maker, creative series that features innovative UW students, faculty and staff, and members of the public.

“If something creative, unique and maker-like is happening in Laramie, then you can expect to learn more about it at PokeBot,” says Jane Crayton, UWIN makerspace coordinator.

To register for the free laser cut activity, limited to the first 50 participants, click here. The overall PokeBot V5.01 program is a drop-in event at the Information Technology Center, located on the east end of Sorority Row. Although preregistration is not required, those who preregister will receive a reminder email to attend the event.

The event will feature three presenters, live music and networking with light refreshments.

Presenters are:

-- Austin Cassel, an electrical engineering student from Green River, will present “Ultimaker Shroud: 3D printer part design.”

-- Bowman will present “Figuring it OUT: Vinyl, Fabrication, Stickers and DIY Fashion Show.”

-- Alex Soveroski and Dylan Stowers, of SUPER ULTRA from Green House Collective in Laramie, will present “Computer-based Improvisation: Generative MIDI hardware integration.” SUPER ULTRA -- an experimental music group that uses computer-based improvisation with MIDI hardware -- also will give a live performance.

DJ OsVinci will provide music throughout the program.

For more information, or to present at the next PokeBot event, email Crayton at jcrayton@uwyo.edu.
