UW’s Stephens Named Secretary of Wyoming Nurses Association

Jennifer Stephens, an assistant professor in the University of Wyoming’s Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing, recently was elected secretary of the Wyoming Nurses Association (WNA).

Elections for officers took place at WNA’s annual convention in Cheyenne Sept. 28-29.

“My overall aim is to build collaborations and to encourage communication and sharing between nurses and with our health care colleagues,” Stephens says. “My vision for nursing is one that sustains both a humanistic and holistic approach while finding a cohesive way to respond to challenges such as climate change, promoting diversity and confronting growing economic and political divides.”

Stephens also will serve as treasurer for WNA’s southeast region. Stephens previously served on the board of the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology.

Ashlee Ledgess, a full-time student from Rock Springs in UW’s Doctor of Nursing Practice Family Nurse Practitioner Program, will serve as treasurer for WNA’s southwest region.

For more information, call Kara Beech, executive director of WNA, at (307) 222-6391 or email director@wyonurse.com.
