First Cowboy Sandbox Discovery Meet-Up Feb. 8 at UW

Weekly Cowboy Sandbox Discovery Meet-up events will begin Thursday, Feb. 8, at the University of Wyoming.

The gatherings will take place from 4-7 p.m. in the SciDIY Makerspace in Room 37 in the basement of the Physical Sciences Building next to the Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium.

Participants will discuss, work on, develop, practice, learn, explore and hack immersive technologies for augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (XR) and full-dome development. Participants can learn about the experimental full-dome computer built for the planetarium and try technologies on it.

“Use one of our photogrammetry scanning stations to create 3D models you can use in your immersive content or 3D print in our lab,” says Jane Crayton, UW Innovation Network (UWIN) makerspace coordinator. “Use one of our development stations or our immersive corner cave to develop, learn or experiment with AR/VR and XR technologies. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring their own projects and technologies to test and demo.”

The SciDIY Makerspace is part of UWIN and in partnership with the Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium.

For more information, email Crayton at jcrayton@uwyo.edu.
