UW Choirs to Present ‘Cowboys, Sing On!’ March 2

The University of Wyoming Department of Music choirs will present “Cowboys, Sing On!” at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

The concert is the culminating event of “Cowboys, Sing On!” -- a two-day UW festival open to choral students in grades 7-12.

The concert will be conducted by UW Department of Music faculty members Brian Murray and O’Neil Jones and UW graduate student Emily Peterson. Also featured will be pianists Isabella Araújo, Francine Cancian and Alisson Garcia, along with guitarist Kathryn Harding. Performing will be the Laramie Civic Chorus, 7220 Blues, Bel Canto, Happy Jacks, Singing Statesmen and Collegiate Chorale. They will be joined by the festival’s Treble Singers and Tenor/Bass Singers.

The program will include selections by Eric William Barnum, Ysaye Barnwell, David Childs, René Clauson, Robert De Cormier, Nathaniel Dett, Laura Farnell, Ruth Moody, Jacob Narverud, Knut Nystedt and Robert Schumann.
