UW RN to BSN Program Recognized Among Best in Mountain West

The University of Wyoming Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing’s RN to BSN Program has been recognized as one of the best in the Mountain West region by RNCareers.org. The website compared similar programs found in nursing schools throughout the Mountain West region and surrounding areas.

“Marking a significant achievement in our eighth annual nursing school ranking report, RNCareers.org is proud to announce the University of Wyoming as a leader in RN to BSN programs in Wyoming,” the website wrote in a message to Dean Sherrill Smith. “Merited for its effective teaching methods and exceptional student outcomes, the University of Wyoming stands out for its standard of excellence in nursing education.”

The RN (Registered Nurse) to BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) Program at UW’s nursing school is completely online and is appropriate for a registered nurse with an associate degree or diploma in nursing seeking a bachelor's degree. The program accepts students from Wyoming and most states across the U.S.

All programs offered by the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing.

Several factors were taken into consideration in the recognition of the program. They include its flexibility, allowing students to coordinate their education with their employment schedules; a speedy completing timeline within a year, depending on a student’s additional work/family obligations; excellent curriculum delivered by experienced, student-focused faculty; as well as affordability.

Noting the importance of an increased number of BSN graduates in Wyoming and beyond, Smith says, “We are thrilled to see our online BSN program recognized by RNCareers. At a time when we are seeing a need for more BSN nurses, we are proud to know our graduates are receiving a quality education so they can make a difference in our communities.”

“At the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing, we set the standard for excellence in learning with a student focus,” says Associate Lecturer Carrie Barr, the RN to BSN Program director. “We are especially proud of our entirely distant BSN completion and RENeW program, which includes articulation with Wyoming community colleges to better serve our rural communities.”
