Graham Mensa-Wilmot, P.E., SPE, is Drilling Engineering Technical Director at XCIDrill Technology. He has more than 36 years experience in drilling applications research, downhole tool development, BHA design and analysis, drilling mechanics, drilling dysfunctions identification and remediation, drilling dynamics, functional compatibility analysis of drilling systems, drilling analytics/automation principles, also holistic solutions for drilling optimization that focus on cycle time improvement. He is an acknowledged industry expert, and recently served as Chevron’s MAXDRILL (Drilling Optimization) Global Team Lead, having previously worked in engineering, research, and applications positions of increasing responsibility at Smith Technologies (now SLB). Mensa-Wilmot’s drilling experiences span across Deepwater, Conventional, Geothermal, and Unconventional assets. He serves on the SPE/IADC Drilling Conference Program Committee and the SPE Drilling and Completions Committee. Mensa-Wilmot has authored 62 technical papers and holds 52 patents in drilling technologies. He is an SPE Distinguished Lecturer, previously served as a drilling dynamics and performance drilling lecturer for Petroleum Network Educational Conference (PNEC) series and is also an SPE Distinguished Member. Mensa-Wilmot serves on the SPE Gulf Section Advisory Board, also on the JPT and SPE Drilling and Completions editorial committees. He has lectured and supported numerous research and engineering projects at several Universities.
