Meetings: Meetings are held weekly, generally on Thursday evenings.
Who we are: The Philosophy Club is a social organization for all interested students, especially philosophy majors and minors, who are dedicated to the study of philosophical topics outside the traditional classroom setting. Former students, graduate students, interested community members, etc., are also welcome to attend meetings.
What we do: Topics and activities of the club vary from week to week. For some meetings, e.g., we'll discuss backward inferential commitment in autonomous discursive practices, while, for other meetings, we'll watch a movie and afterwards discuss its philosophical themes. Then again, a meeting might consist in frolicking about Prexey's Pasture, weather permitting.
Where and when will we meet: Good philosophical discussion almost never happens in a traditional classroom setting; rather, it occurs in the comfort of one's own home, at a restaurant, or (if you're into Aristotelian peripatetic method) just walking along a path. Our usual meeting time will be 6:00 pm on Thursdays at one of Laramie's fine local eateries or public house. Students should stay tuned for regular announcements on this webpage for a change of scheduled meeting time.
