Physics and Astronomy education provides a broad background in mathematics, mechanics, electricity and magnetism, optics, thermodynamics, and statistical mechanics. The Physics program at Wyoming offers a personal education to prepare students for challenging careers in space sciences, astronomy, nanotechnology, environmental sciences, optics, computer technology, energy policy, science law, and many other fields.

Two students say personal contact from faculty members in UW’s Department of Physics and Astronomy -- and the opportunity to work as undergraduates with those professors on research projects -- played a big role in their decision to attend UW. And, after completing their first year, they agree that choosing UW over the dozens of other institutions that recruited them, including Ivy League and other big-name schools attracted by their high ACT scores, was the right move.  Read more..

Dr. TeYu Chien has implemented a Condensed Matter Physics Journal Club.  He has created an informational website.

Our Society of Physics Students (SPS) is active again this year.  They have a new faculty advisor, and new officers.  They will have regular meetings and are again hosting a lecture series.
