First Female Justice on the Wyoming Supreme Court

Marilyn Kite was raised in Laramie, Wyoming, and graduated with a
B.A. in international affairs from UW in 1970. She went on to attend the
UW College of Law, earning her J.D. in 1974. From there, she joined the
Wyoming state attorney general's office, first as assistant attorney
general (1974-76), then as senior assistant attorney general (1976-78).
She went into private practice in 1979 with the firm Holland & Hart,
where she became partner, practicing in the firm's Jackson, Wyoming,
office.
In 2000, Kite was appointed to the Wyoming State Supreme Court by
Governor Jim Geringer and became the first woman to hold the position.
