The UW-NPS Grand Teton Research Center is a collaboration between the University of Wyoming and Grand Teton National Park. It has been conducting research in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem since 1953. Initially based at the Jackson Hole Biological Research Station, it relocated to the AMK Ranch in 1978. In 2010, a ten-year general agreement was established between the university and the park, allowing for a long-term cooperative research program. The University of Wyoming is responsible for maintaining the buildings and surrounding land at the AMK Ranch, while the park ensures compliance with standards for historic properties.
