About the Science Posse

From 2006 until April 30 2015, in classrooms across the state, and in labs on the campus of the University of Wyoming, PhD students in red shirts challenged students to

build bridges

Toothpick bridge

explore electricity

Potato Battery

power cars with hydrogen

classify skulls

Who were these red-shirted PhD candidates?

They were members of the University of Wyoming Science Posse.

This group of graduate students in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) shared their passion for science and education with middle and high school students and teachers throughout the state.

Like their predecessors in the old West, the Science Posse figuratively banded together to help their neighbors across the state. They brought their expertise into classrooms and engaged students in ways their teachers cannot. When they left, the Posse members', teachers' and students' lives had all been enriched.
