All of our Fellows have reached their limit for the number of events they can schedule, so we are closing requests for the rest of 2013. We are taking requests for spring semester, which we will schedule in the order received when our Spring travel teams are set.
1. Explore all the Science Posse's offerings, and select the one that best meets your needs.2. Be aware of the time and student number parameters for the event you have chosen. These are non-negotiable!
On-Campus Lab Tours~ 45-60 minutes, 15 students per tour group, maximum of 75 students total. (We can schedule multiple sessions to accommodate larger groups.)
Research/Career Talks~ 15 to 35 minutes, 15-30 students per group. (We can send multiple Fellows to accommodate larger groups.)
Specialized Lessons~ Length to be determined, group size 15-30, depending on your class numbers. (Please do not combine multiple classes if the total exceeds the maximum listed.)
Mini-Lessons~ 20-25 minutes, 15 students per group. (We can send multiple Fellows to accommodate larger groups.)
Science Fair Consultations~ Length to be determined, group size 15-30, depending on your class numbers. Please consider following up with Virtual Science Posse visits to allow our Fellows to provide individual and small group mentoring.
3. Check the Science Posse Calendar for dates the Posse's travel teams are available.
Please make your request at least two weeks prior to the Science Posse meeting before your requested date. (Requests placed after 5:00 pm on Tuesdays will not be placed on the agenda for the next day's scheduling meeting.)
If possible, provide several dates to allow us the best chance of fulfilling your request.
4. Be aware of our Winter Weather Travel policy.
The safety of Science Posse members is paramount. If weather conditions make travel hazardous, the Science Posse reserves the right to cancel the visit.
If the travel conditions are in question, a decision will be made and you will be notified by 3:00 pm the day before our visit. In light of this, please have a backup plan for your class or group.
Once the decision is made, it is final, even if the weather clears up by morning.
Please remember that conditions in Laramie can be far worse than in the rest of the state.
If we are forced to cancel due to weather, we will make every attempt to reschedule your event.
5. Once you submit your request, you will immediately receive an email with directions on confirming it.
Your request CANNOT be acted on until we receive your confirmation email.
Once you have confirmed your request, it will be placed on the agenda at our next meeting. (We meet every Wednesday at 8:30 am.)
While we will attempt to fill every requested date, those that give us at least two weeks after our meeting have the best chance of being fulfilled.
After the meeting, we will contact you about the status of your request.
