This program may be right for you….
Do you want to make a serious impact on the world? Would you like to stay in Casper to complete your bachelor’s degree? How about earning approximately $40,000 plus a generous benefits package the year following graduation? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the bachelor of arts in secondary science education (BSSE) with a concurrent major in biology may be the program for you. The BSSE program is offered through the University of Wyoming/Casper College Center. There is no longer a need for you to transfer out of Casper to attain this versatile degree.
The BSSE degree will lead to Wyoming certification as a secondary biological sciences teacher. However, since the degree includes the concurrent major in biology, you also have the flexibility to use your degree for other opportunities outside of education, such as working in the private sector, working for the federal government, or applying for graduate school.
According to the Business-Higher Education Forum, a group comprised of Fortune 500 CEOs and university presidents, the United States will need approximately 280,000 new science and math teachers by the year 2015. According to Kiplinger’s, education is an employment sector that is recession proof. As baby boomers retire in record numbers, the job opportunities in Wyoming and neighboring states are very favorable.
