Spring 2011 Leadership Series- Put the I in Leadership
The Service, Leadership & Community Engagement (SLCE) office offers the leadership series every semester to help UW students develop leadership skills. We want to help YOU make the most of your leadership skills and learn new ones. All of the sessions are interactive and many include guest speakers from here on campus.
February 23, 4-5:30, Business 111: Who am I? How does this work with Leadership?
This session will look at personality types and how they affect both you as a leader and the people you interact with. We will also look into some basic public speaking skills
March 2, 4-5:30, Business 111: Making Meetings Work
Becky Adair from residence life will work her meeting magic. With a look at both your roll in meetings, and how to deal with other, you will learn the tricks to make meetings work.
March 9, 4-5:30, Business 111: Event Planning Budgeting
Does it seem like planning an event on campus is all paperwork and numbers? Come and learn some tricks and skills to planning and budgeting an event. We will look at planning on campus, but the skills are useful for more than just event at UW.
March 23, 4-5:30, Business 111: Motivation for Success!
Mark Collins will be in to help you find ways to keep yourself and other motivated. Have you ever need to keep a group motivated, together, and in the same direction? Come and learn how to make this happen.
March 30, 4-5:30, Business 111: Your Strengths in Tangible Terms
Kent Drummond from the marketing department will be on hand to show students how they can really show themselves and future employers the skills they already possess. He will help you turn leadership qualities into tangible examples.
April 6, 4-5:30, Business 111: Personal Statements, Philosophies, Resumes, and You
Jo Chytka from the Career Center will help you discover what your personal statement and philosophy is and how to write it down on paper for school and/or work applications.
