Students Use Research to Promote Social Justice

Brittany Wienholz
"Participating in the Shepard Symposium on Social Justice and Grand Rounds Research Day through the College of Health Sciences has provided me with amazing opportunities to not only share what I consider valuable research pertaining to social justice, but also to hone in my presentation skills and professionalism in social work and academia. I am continually grateful for the support and funding for my research through many University entities. Prior to this program, I didn't realize social work could have a foothold in research, but I see now that it is essential that professionals in the field engage in research to advance social justice, equality, and empowerment. Applying ethical standards to research with vulnerable populations has been a challenging, yet very rewarding experience!" Brittany Wienholz, MSW student
