Curriculum

M.A. IN EDUCATION LITERACY CONCENTRATION PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS


The Master of Arts degree in Education is offered in two options:

  • Plan A, which requires writing a thesis 
  • Plan B, which requires a written paper based on a scholarly project. Learn more about Plan B requirements.

A minimum of 33 credit hours beyond the Bachelor’s degree is required. All course work and degree requirements must be approved by the student’s graduate committee.

  • EDCI 5750: K-6 Classroom Literacy, I (also for students pursuing a K-12 state reading endorsement)
  • EDCI 5755: K-6 Classroom Literacy, II (also for students pursuing a K-12 state reading endorsement)
  • EDCI 5760: Social Literacies
  • EDCI 5320: Writing Instruction for K-6
  • EDCI 5360: Historical Issues In Literacy Research & Instruction
  • EDCI 5365: New Trends in Literacy Research & Instruction
  • EDCI 5380: Literacy Leadership
  • EDRE 5530: Intro to Research or EDRE 5500: Action Research
