Summer Activities in & around Laramie, WY

Summer Session & Winter Courses

Located at 7200' above sea level, the University of Wyoming campus sits in the center of the city of Laramie, WY.

The weather in the summer can range from hot in the days to cool at night with the average temperature in June, July and August being in the 70's.  Afternoon thunderstorm can be common throughout the summer but days are mainly clear and sunny.  Make sure you have plenty of sunscreen ... and a rain jacket just in case!

UW Sponsored event and activities - UW Calendar of Events

The University of Wyoming coordinates, sponsors and facilitates a number of academic, cultural, social and recreation events on the UW Campus and surrounding areas throughout the summer months.  In addition, Campus Recreation has exercise facilities and exercise classes at various times during the summer months and the Outdoor Program has outdoor equipment available to students to rent at a nominal fee.

Happy Jack Recreation Area - 10 miles east of Laramie.  Accessible via I-80 and Happy Jack Hwy (WY-210).  Camping, hiking, trail running, XC Skiing, snowshoeing and mountain biking

Vedauwoo -  approx............................. 15 miles east of Laramie. Accessible via I-80 and Happy Jack Hwy (WY-210).  Camping, hiking, trail running, climbing and mountain biking.

Snowy Range - approximately 30 miles west of Laramie. Accessible via Wyoming Hwy 130 or 230. Camping, hiking, climbing, mountaineering, fishing, mountain biking, hot springs, downhill skiing, XC skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, etc ...!

Curt Gowdy State Park - approx............................. 25 miles east of Laramie. Accessible via Happy Jack Hwy (WY-210).  Camping, fishing, IMBA rated EPIC mountain bike trail system.
