Summer Programs Lead Student Programmer

Hours Per Week: Approximately 15-20 Hours
Term of Position: April - August 2015
$7.75/Hour
Deadline to Apply: March 9, 2015 by 12pm

Summer Programs runs a weekly Summer Concert Series (approx. 12 concerts) as well as various ticketed trips to destinations such as Cheyenne Frontier Days concerts, Water World, and Elitch Gardens (approx. 6 trips). Conduct programming duties such as researching, booking, planning, and executing programs.

Friday Night Fever Lead Student Programmer

Hours Per Week: Approximately 15-20 Hours
Term of Position: One Year; April 2015 - May 2016
$7.75/Hour
Must be available Friday evenings.
Deadline to Apply: March 9, 2015 by 12pm

Friday Night Fever plans events every Friday during prime social hours as an alcohol alternative. Events include comedians, hypnotists, magicians, UW Idol, Casino Night, International Night, and first run movies every week.

Student Activities Council Lead Student Programmer

Hours Per Week: Approximately 15-20 Hours
Term of Position: One Year; April 2015 - May 2016
$7.75/Hour
Must be available Wednesday evenings.

The Student Activities Council plans events, usually on Wednesday, during the school year. The group books a majority of musical events as well as comedians, lectures, and events created by the students. Past events include: local and regional bands, Second City Improv Troupe, Banff Film Festival, and much more

Concerts & Convocations Lead Student Programmer

Hours Per Week: Approximately 15-20 Hours and Long Hours on Event Days 
Term of Position: One Year; April 2015 - May 2016
$7.75/Hour

Concerts and Convocations plan 3-4 large scale events per academic year. These events are funded by both revenue and student fees. Past events include Rodney Atkins, Lupe Fiasco, Ira Glass, Widespread Panic, Nick Offerman, and Lewis Black.

Safe Zone Lead Student Programmer

Hours Per Week: Approximately 15-20 Hours and Some Evening Work
Term of Position: One Year; April 2015 - May 2016
$7.75/Hour

Safe Zone is a program that promotes a positive campus environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning individuals through the education of LGBTQ allies. This program provides trainings and support for students, faculty, and staff across the University of Wyoming campus and the Laramie community. The Safe Zone Program Coordinator is responsible for the general oversight and direction of the program.

Visual & Cultural Arts Lead Student Programmer

Hours Per Week: Approximately 15-20 Hours and Some Evening Work
Term of Position: One Year; April 2015 - May 2016
$7.75/Hour

Visual & Cultural Arts manages Gallery 234 which hosts 4-5 art exhibits each semester. These exhibits display the work of students, community members, as well as traveling artists. In addition, Visual & Cultural Arts is responsible for planning 3-4 diverse events a year in collaboration with other programming boards. These events are usually part of a grant that is written and carried out by this position.

Position Description: The Wyoming Union has over 14,000 square feet of meeting space. Students, departments, and private groups use our spaces to hold a variety of events ranging from small meeting to large banquets for over 400 people. Additionally, we commonly host career fairs, large conferences, distinguished speakers, concerts, movies and wedding receptions, to name a just a few.

As a member of the Events office your duties will include the setup of a meeting space to meet the customer’s needs. This includes the precise arrangement of furniture (tables, chairs) and the configuration of audio/visual equipment. You will also be expected to perform light cleaning duties between events for event spaces and facility equipment. The ability to work within strict timelines is required. Attention to detail is paramount.

Requirements: This is a highly physical position that requires frequent lifting and moving of objects up to 50 pounds. Knowledge of microphones, projectors, computers, conference phones and sound systems preferred, but willingness to learn acceptable. The ability to interact with customers and staff in a positive, courteous manner is necessary. The ability to graciously accommodate last minute requests and changes is imperative. A strong attention to detail is required. You must be able to work with limited supervision. Availability to work evenings, late nights, early mornings, and weekends (usually alternating weekends) required. You will be required to attend regular staff training meetings.
