Reach, a new outdoor exposure magazine produced by University of Wyoming students, will launch its first issue Friday, April 18.

It will be on the Branding Iron news racks around campus and distributed to local businesses. Copies can also be found in the Student Media office on the third floor of the Wyoming Union.

The free magazine will highlight outdoor opportunities in the Rocky Mountains, says editor in chief Lindsey Korsick, a journalism student from Monument, Colo. She says the magazine's purpose is to intrigue and educate people about the outdoors.

"Wyoming is an outdoor gem, and Reach can be a guide to maximizing everyone's experiences here," she says. "Reach was named because sometimes it takes some extra effort to explore your surroundings to experience the most amazing places and adventures. There are different adventures for every skill level, everyone can get involved."

The magazine offers a creative twist to articles about where to go, what to do, and what to wear. It offers opportunities to student writers, photographers, designers and editors to try their hand at an outdoor publication. Korsick says the magazine is scheduled to be published twice annually, but decisions on frequency of publication will be made in coming months.

"There is something about the rush of being on the top of a mountain and I want Reach to share that with people," she says.
