January 23, 2009

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report:

Information Technology (IT) Center -- Some punch list work (final items to complete on list after walk through of a project) remains in several locations. The contractors will continue to work on these items during the next few weeks. Staff will be moving into the third floor this week. Work on the exterior building and landscaping that is incomplete or was added late in the schedule will be completed as the weather permits. The interior signs, furniture, and other owner-provided items are being ordered and will be installed as they arrive.

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- At the addition, the contractor is working at placing floor slabs and tie beams. At the existing building, finish work continues from the top down. Painting will start on the upper level and drywall installation will finish up on the main level.

Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Go here for a list of the new office locations:

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- Interior work on the addition continues. The contractor is progressing from the basement to the top level. At the 70s addition, the contractor will be painting levels 3 and 4. Concrete work between the Library addition and History Building should finish up during the week.

Student Health/Cheney International Center -- Work continues on the lobby area. Reflected ceilings are being installed and painting will begin in some areas on the first floor. Demolition of some ceilings will occur on the first floor once the lobby is completed. The basement mechanical areas and west wing are still under construction.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- The plumbing in the new restrooms will be roughed-in. Roofing material will be delivered and installed. Drywall will start in the Small Moot Courtroom. Framing and electrical rough-in will take place in the ceiling of the Large Moot Courtroom. Stone masonry will continue on the exterior.

Centennial Complex -- Interior punch list items in the small galleries will continue over the next week.

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Interior framing continues along with electrical and mechanical rough-ins. Drywall is in progress. Exterior stucco on the addition will be complete this week. The existing air handler demolition will also be complete this week. The construction completion is scheduled for March 2009.

The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

15th Street -- The City of Laramie is installing a concrete apron around a manhole east of Wyo Hall. Work should be complete by mid week, but the area will remain blocked off most of next week to allow the concrete to cure.

College of Engineering -- The Paint Shop will begin painting public areas in the new Engineering building next week. Please use caution around work areas and be aware of sensitivities to paint odors.

College of Agriculture -- Replacement of hallway lighting will begin on the ground, first and second floors in the old Ag Building next week. Work should continue for about two weeks. Please use caution when walking around work areas.

Half Acre -- Window replacement has been completed. Plaster repair, caulking and painting are continuing. The sidewalk on the north side of the building has been opened temporarily but will be closed again when caulking and painting activities progress to the north side of the building.

Fuel Facility -- The new fueling facility to the south of CEP (Central Energy Plant) is complete. Access has returned to normal on Gibbon Street. The new software is being installed and new fuel cards issued. The facility should be operational by Feb. 2.

Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal continues as needed. Please be cautious of snow removal equipment.
