Campus Construction Update for Week of March 1

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report:

Information Technology (IT) Center -- Most of the punch list work (final items to complete on list after walk through of a project) has been completed and back-checked but some remains in several locations and will be completed soon. Temporary window coverings have been installed on the second and third floors. The furniture, and other owner-provided items are being ordered and will be installed as they arrive.

Work on the exterior building and landscaping that is incomplete or was added late in the schedule will be completed as weather permits. The building is open for contractors and IT staff only. Tours are can be arranged upon request.

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- The contractor will work on light fixture installation and ceiling grids on the third floor of the addition; painting on the second floor of the addition; taping drywall on the first level of the addition and installing metal framing and utility rough-ins in the basement.
Setting structural steel will be the main activity at the addition.

Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Go here for a list of the new office locations: www.uwyo.edu/news/showrelease.asp?id=23821

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- At the addition, the contractor continues to wrap up items. The focus will be on the wood paneling on the fifth level; testing and balancing fifth level mechanical systems, installing ceiling tiles on the second level; and start cleaning the fifth level.
The contractor will pick up punch list items before turning the space over to the university.

Student Health/ Cheney International Center -- The first and second floor west wings will have flooring installed, painting completed and ceiling tiles set into place. The pharmacy remodel is being framed and set up for finishes and flooring. Student Health will move into remodeled spaces on March 18.

Cowboy Dorm Abatement --Preparation is being made to begin abatement of the Cowboy Dorm (log building west of the Earth Sciences Center) in March. The process will take approximately three weeks.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- In the Large Moot Courtroom they will install steel channels and stone on the wall behind the judge's bench. They will begin hanging drywall on the walls and soffits and continue installing ducts, piping, and electric. In the Small Moot Courtroom, seminar room, and restrooms they will continue painting and start installing ceiling grid.

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Drywall and taping is finishing up. Wall texturing will begin next week. Roofing is underway on the new addition. The new air handler is placed in the building. Data wiring will continue over the next few weeks. The construction completion is scheduled for April 2009.

UW Facilities Planning invites everyone to participate in the Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) workshop, Thursday, March 5, at 3:30 p.m. in the Washakie Center Rendezvous Room (lower level). The planning process will guide the long-term physical development of the Laramie campus. The LRDP will guide: New student housing, walking and biking paths, improved street crossings, parking supply and location, academic core expansion, new research facilities and new and improved open spaces.

The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory -- Excavation and removal of contaminated soil continues. The dig area is on the southwest side of the building, near the loading dock. Access to the south side of the building will be restricted. Please be aware of heavy equipment and soil stockpiles in the area.

Wyoming Union -- Construction activities for the Pita Pit remodel will continue into March. Pedestrian traffic will be routed around the work area as needed. Please use caution in this congested area.

College of Engineering Building -- The painting in public areas of the new Engineering Building continues. Please use caution around work areas and be aware of sensitivities to paint odors. The men's restroom located in room 1051 is now operational.

Physical Sciences Building -- Work is complete in the mechanical areas. The fourth floor men's room is now operational.

Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal continues as needed. Please be cautious of snow removal equipment.
