Campus Construction Update for Week of March 8

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report:

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- At the addition, structural steel will continue to be placed. In the existing building, floor preparation for finishes on the 3rd level will start; painting and ceiling grid will continue on the second floor; drywall finishing and duct work will take place on the first level; and utility rough-ins will continue in the basement.

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- At the addition, final inspection of level five will begin. Carpet and flooring installation will start on level two, the main level. The front store front entrance will also start during the week. In the existing addition, shelving installation will start on the third and fourth levels. At the exterior, concrete slabs will be placed at the front entrance to the addition and over the vault lid between the library and College of Business building.

Student Health/ Cheney International Center -- First floor student health will be completed in the next two weeks to prepare for the March 18th move. The pharmacy has been enlarged and will be relocated to its original area on the first floor, east wing. Electrical, lighting, fire suppression and mechanical will be completed. New corridor flooring and paint and patch are ongoing. The exterior steps and ramp will be poured in the next two weeks. There will be some rearrangement of fencing to accommodate the new paving.

Information Technology (IT) Center -- Most of the punch list work (final items to complete on list after walk through of a project) has been completed and back-checked. The furniture, and other owner-provided items are being ordered and will be installed as they arrive.

Work on the exterior building and landscaping that is incomplete or was added late in the schedule will be completed as weather permits. The building is open for contractors and IT staff only. Tours are can be arranged upon request.

Cowboy Dorm Abatement -- Preparation is being made to begin abatement of the Cowboy Dorm (log building west of the Earth Sciences Center). A start date for the abatement has not yet been scheduled.

Visual Arts - Survey crews will be surveying the site and adjacent streets at the corner of Willett and 22nd during the week of March 9, weather permitting. Survey work may extend into the next week.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- In the Large Moot Courtroom most of the work will be hanging drywall and stone panels. Some work on electrical, ducts, and plumbing will continue at the ceiling level. Painting will continue in the Small Moot Courtroom, seminar room, and restrooms. In the Small Moot Courtroom the steel post for the tables may be ready and some work on light fixtures will begin. Removal of carpet and some wall covering in the first floor corridor and replacing it with new carpet and paint will begine Friday, with completion scheduled for the week of spring break.

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Drywall and taping is finishing up. Wall texturing will begin next week. Roofing is under way on the new addition. The new air handler is placed in the building. Data wiring will continue over the next few weeks. The construction completion is scheduled for April 2009.

The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory -- Final grading of the parking lot should occur this weekend. Access to the south side of the building will remain restricted. Please be aware of heavy equipment and soil stockpiles in the area.

Wyoming Union -- Construction activities for the Pita Pit remodel will continue into March. Pedestrian traffic will be routed around the work area as needed. Please use caution in this congested area.

College of Engineering Building -- Painting in public areas of the new Engineering Building continues. Please use caution around work areas and be aware of sensitivities to paint odors.

Tree Trimming -- Grounds Services will be trimming trees on campus for the next few weeks. Areas will be blocked off as trimming occurs. Please be cautious of falling limbs in work areas.

Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal continues as needed. Please be cautious of snow removal equipment.
