UW Cultural Programs' Series Concludes Nov. 20 with Pianist Lise De La Salle
November 16, 2009 — The University of Wyoming fall Cultural Programs concert series concludes with pianist Lise de la Salle, Friday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for the performance, in the Fine Arts Center concert hall, cost $18 for the public and $15 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available by calling the Fine Arts Center box office at (307) 766-6666 or at the Web site www.uwyo.edu/finearts.
Born and raised in Cherbourg, France, de la Salle performed her first live concert broadcast at the age of 9, won first-prize at the European Young Concert Artist Auditions at 15, won first-prize at the American Young Concert Artists International Auditions at 16, and released her first CD at 17.
"They're getting younger every year," says UW Cultural Programs Director Cedric Reverand. "After our pianists from Hungary, Italy and Argentina, we thought it was about time to feature a French pianist."
In addition to her Cultural Programs performance, de la Salle will also perform Saint-Saens second piano concerto with the UW Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center concert hall. Tickets for this performance cost $10 for the public, $7 for senior citizens and $6 for students. Reverand adds that she arrives in Laramie shortly after her debut with the Boston Symphony playing the same concerto.
The spring concert series begins Jan. 28, 2010, with the dance group Pilobolus.
