Artists Nick Alley and Laramie native Ryan O'Malley of Drive-By Press, a mobile-printmaking studio, will share their knowledge of contemporary prints and perform relief printmaking demonstrations Monday and Tuesday, April 26-27, at the University of Wyoming.
Monday, Drive-By Press will hang a salon of works inside the UW Fine Arts Center from
a collection of more than 3,000 contemporary prints. A public lecture will be held
at 7 p.m. in Room 111. Tuesday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. the artists will print original,
hand cut wood block prints on T-shirts in Simpson Plaza. These relief printmaking
demonstrations enable participants to collaborate in pulling prints.
Drive-By Press began four years ago as a Master of Fine Arts thesis project for Joseph
Velasquez and Greg Nanney at the University of Wisconsin and has since blossomed into
a driving force in the printmaking world. In half a decade, Drive-By Press has traveled
more than 200,000 miles and visited more than 200 colleges, universities, high schools,
museums, galleries and print shops across the United States.
