UW Employees Honored at Staff Recognition Day

Dora Montez, senior accounting associate for the Department of Psychology, today (Wednesday) was named the University of Wyoming's outstanding employee of the year during annual Staff Recognition Day at UW. Pepsi and UniWyo Federal Credit Union sponsored the award.

More than 200 employees were honored Wednesday for their years of service and contributions to UW. Sponsored by UW Staff Senate with support from the UW Office of the President, Staff Recognition Days encourages and acknowledges the work of all UW staff members.

Leif Cawley, Department of History senior office associate, and Nancy Courtney, Accounting Office accountant, each received the E.G. Meyer Family Outstanding Staff Service Award.

The Jody K. Humphrey Inspirational Staff Award recipient was Sylvia Sanchez, facilities/grounds supervisor in Residence Life and Dining Services.

President's Foundation awards for outstanding campus service were presented to Tom Fronapfel, coordinator of Moving Services; Merrie McElreath, business manager in the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office; and Linda Nydahl, Accounting Office manager.

UW Staff Incentive awards were presented to Fernando Aranda, facilities grounds attendant in the Wyoming Union; Trish Hysong, Department of Family and Consumer Sciences senior office assistant.; and Jo Marie Paintin, Department of Political Science senior office associate.

The Skilled Crafts/Services awards were presented to David Gregory, carpenter; and Mary Mesa, facilities/grounds attendant in Custodial Services.

Unsung Hero full-time awards were presented to Bent Glover, Department of Atmospheric Sciences master technician; and Brett Householder, Small Business Development Center information specialist.

Unsung Hero part-time awards went to Sydney Gold Elliott, office associate with the Outreach School regional office in Jackson; and Cheryll Jensen, American Indian Studies senior office assistant.

UW Off-campus awards were presented to Michelle Lorenz, Wyoming Survey and Analysis Center business manager; and Cindy Unger, Casper, Small Business Development Center project coordinator.
