Wyoming Gamelan Chandra Wyoga will perform a free concert Wednesday, July 14, from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. at the University of Wyoming Simpson Plaza. Free food is available for UW students.
The Wyoming Gamelan performs the jazzy, intricate percussive musical sounds of Bali, Indonesia. The instruments and costumes are colorful and the members are enthusiastic about this rhythmic musical form.
Based in the UW Department of Music, the ensemble is comprised of UW students, faculty and staff and musicians from Laramie and Centennial. Directed by I Made Lasmawan, the Wyoming Gamelan has performed for 12 years.
The Campus Activities Center sponsors the concert as part of its summer programs schedule.
